WORSHIP TEAM APPLICATION
Thank you for your interest in Grace Church's worship ministries. This packet is designed to help answer your questions and prepare you for applying for a position on the worship team.
Currently, Grace Church's worship ministry consists of several vocalists and instrumentalists who all rotate on a week-by-week basis. We do this for several reasons:
1. Because we have a limited number of instrumentalists, we don’t always have enough for separate teams.
2. We rotate vocalists and instrumentalists so that there is variety in our presentation.
3. This also keeps the focus on the entire team and creates a more positive atmosphere for our team members.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
- Vocalists (either for lead or backup parts)
- Guitar (Electric, Acoustic, or 12 String)
- Percussion (Hand drums, shaker, etc.)
- other strings (violin, cello, mandolin, banjo, etc.)
Our typical group on Sunday consists of vocalists, drums, guitar, bass and keyboards. Even though we already have each position covered, we are always looking for more people to fill any role and to give each member a break.
Other instruments will certainly be considered, even though they may not be used each week. Examples include orchestral instruments such as brass, strings, and woodwinds – even steel guitar or mandolin may be used from time to time.
Our worship team is the sole group that leads worship on Sunday mornings in our adult service. The worship team may be asked to serve at other functions as deemed fit by the leadership of Grace Church.
Being a part of the worship team is a considerable investment in time. Rehearsals are one evening a week for 2-3 hours (time and evening may vary due to schedules) and are rich and not wasted. We have a time of fellowship, a time of discipleship, and a time of rehearsal. Warm up and run-through on Sunday mornings begins at 8:30am. Vocalists can expect to sing 2-3 times per month, depending on schedules. Instrumentalists can expect to play more often, until we have enough musicians to begin rotations.
Grace Church provides the necessary equipment to hook up your instrument to the sound system for the purpose of the audition. For the worship team on a given Sunday, you will need any cables and cords associated with your instrument, but the church will provide all direct boxes, microphones, etc. Instrumentalists are expected to have their own instruments with the exception of drums. Guitarists should have their own amps, if necessary.
