What’s on the horizon at Grace?
Well, Christmas Day has passed and now we head into the last week of the year. 2019 is on the horizon. For some, there may be fear or uncertainty of the unknown regarding the new year. This fear or uncertainty can cause you to question God’s presence, sending you into even deeper anxiety and confusion. God wants you to enter 2019 with the certainty He will be right beside you no matter what you encounter.
Remember the Wisemen, even though there was confusion they simply followed the light God had given them, and they took their journey one step at a time. He has already given you more than a star to follow Him in 2019. He has given you His Word, the Bible. Why not make 2019 the year you read through the Bible. We have Bible reading guides in the bookcases in the back of the auditorium, or you can get an online version by clicking here. Another way to get into His Word is to be in a small group. We are getting ready for another all church emphasis called BREAKING THROUGH. If you are not in a small group, there will be opportunities over the next few weeks to join one!
The other help God has given you is His Holy Spirit that lives in you. When you gave your life to Jesus, confessed your sins, repented, and decided to follow Him, His Spirit took up residence in you. He will guide you as you desire to follow Jesus. Listen for His still small voice!
2019 holds a lot of good things in store because God is already there! Here are a few things to keep in mind as we finish out 2018 and head into 2019:
Financially, we have been running a deficit in our yearly receipts to what our budget calls for. At the beginning of December we were over $50,000 behind. As of today, we have seen that gap narrow to $25,000. WOW, thank you for your generosity. If you haven’t made a year-end gift to Grace Church and would like to do so, we still have one more Sunday to go. You can give in the plate or click here. In order to be counted for a 2018 tax deductible contribution, all gifts must be received or postmarked by Monday, December 31st.
Some of you give faithfully through the offerings on Sunday and utilize offering envelops. This year in an attempt to cut costs we will be offering envelopes that do not have a numbering system. Let us know if you would like a packet of the new envelops by stopping by the Info Center or emailing us here.
For those of you who have faithfully given, THANK YOU. Your gifts are making a difference in building God’s Kingdom. To get an idea of what we have been a part of in 2018 you will want to be at Grace this coming Sunday, December 30th for ONE GATHERING at 11am as we celebrate 2018 and what God has done. This gathering will include all the kids and will be family-friendly with a few surprises. REMEMBER ONE GATHERING, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30th, 11am!
It has been a privilege to be your pastor in 2018. I hope you will see and experience great things in 2019 as we “come to the table” each week together and push away from the table to love, serve and give.
Building God’s Kingdom with you,
