GraceLink | October Edition 2018

Here are three things I hope you will consider this month:

1) re·fresh: in appearance, color, etc. Thirteen years ago the current facility called Grace Church was built. The building has been used for ministry over and over again. As you know, paint gets chipped, carpet gets worn and stained, colors become dull. We have received an incredible gift from a donor to kick start an interior refresh. This gift is a challenge gift to encourage us to come together and give. We are hoping to raise $15,000 over and above regular giving to do the following: painting of the lobby, cafe, library, hallways both downstairs and upstairs, new carpet in several areas, refurbishing the cafe and library as well as in Grace Kidz with updating electronic equipment, tables, and chairs. If you would like to be a part of refresh, simply go online to give or mark your gift in the offering: “refresh.” Envelopes are available at the Info Center. We ask that all giving to refresh be over and above what you normally give to Grace. Thank you in advance for your generosity as we refresh in order to create environments for people to Encounter God!

2) Sundays. Each week there are numerous people who spend many hours preparing for Sunday Gatherings at Grace. We are blessed to have a dedicated core who faithfully serve with joy to create an environment where people can encounter God. Would you make it a matter of prayer and priority to do a few things? First, if you are not serving, would you pray and ask God where He would like for you to serve? If you are interested in serving contact crystal@discovergrace.net. Next, from time to time, attendance can have huge swings. Every week we are having new people coming to check out Grace Church. These new folks typically arrive 10-15 minutes before the service starts. What do you think goes through their minds when they enter the auditorium and see only a hand full of people? Would you consider arriving a little earlier every week and be on the look out for new people to greet? Also, there seems to be a trend of attending church sporadically. If your attendance has been 1-2 times a month or less than that, I want to challenge you to make church a priority. You may be surprised by what God may do!

3) Research tells us that one great way to grow in your faith is to participate in a cross cultural project. If you would like to kick start growth in your relationship with Jesus you will want to check out joining the team going to Guatemala in July of 2019. Adam Rawlins will be leading this team and will be available to talk about the details after each Gathering in the lobby near the Info Center. Don’t be afraid to take a step into this adventure. God will walk with you as you do. For more info about Guatemala, simply email your questions to info@discovergrace.net.That’s it. I hope you will be praying and responding to what God says to you about each of these opportunities. I hope to see you this Sunday.

In Him.

Pastor Marty

On Saturday, October 6th from 12pm-4pm, Grace Church is offering single moms, wives of deployed active duty service members as well as widows a FREE oil change and a chance to relax in our Cafe while their kids are having a blast in our Grace Kidz area. This is one of the greatest opportunities we have to really bless our community. This event would not be possible if it weren’t for our selfless volunteers. The following volunteers are needed from 10am-6pm: Registration, Food Prep, Hospitality, Kidz Activities, and Mechanics. Click herefor more info and to volunteer.

All parents are encouraged to attend an “It’s Just A Phase So Don’t Miss It” parenting class on October 23rd, 30th, or November 6th. A lot of Grace Kidz this year won’t be here next year. Before you know it, they will simply move on to what’s next. The chance to impact their present and shape their future will be gone. That’s why every phase in a kid’s life is more important than most of us realize. Every phase has unique characteristics to understand, distinctive opportunities to leverage, and significant relationships to influence. Our job is to help YOU become more present in the lives of kidz during critical life stages. This class will be facilitated by Linda Hilligoss, Kidz Ministries Director. Click here to register!

Upward Basketball & Cheer – Registration is open! Children 5 years – 6th grade can sign up for this recreational league to learn skills and drills in a Christian environment. There will be one practice a week and one game on Saturdays.

Safari Party – All Grace Kidz ages 2 years-4th grade are invited to a Safari Party THIS FRIDAY at 6pm. Join us for pizza, games, and a show by Silly Safaris. RSVP to lana@discovergrace.net today!

Operation Christmas Child – Fill a shoebox with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies for a child in need overseas. Bring filled shoeboxes to the foyer on October 21st – November 11th. For more info, email lana@discovergrace.net

Trunk or Treat – We’d love to have you join us for a great outreach to our community on Saturday, October 27th. Can you cook, grill or serve food? Maybe set up or tear down? To enter the Chili Cook-Off, decorate the trunk of your car or the back of your truck, or volunteer, visit the table in the Grace Lobby to sign up starting October 7th! Donations of individually wrapped candy can also be brought to the table until October 21st so we can have them ready for the event.

Indoor Garage Sale – Got “stuff” filling up your home? Time to get rid of it? Turn your “stuff” into someone else’s treasure, pocket some extra spending money, and help out a great cause at the same time! The event is free to the public to browse on November 10th from 9am-2pm, and booths only cost $30 to rent in order to sell. All the proceeds will go to help send children to Summer Camp. Click here for more info and to rent a booth!

Fall Break – Sunday, October 14th | NO GSM

My Awkward Family Costume Night – Sunday, October 28th | 5pm-7pm
Your family is invited to GSM for games, trivia, worship, a brief lesson, and an opportunity for an awkward family photo! We want to give you an opportunity to show your kid that mom/dad still know how to have a good time. As a family, find some ridiculous and/or themed outfits that you all can wear. (Search Awkward Family Photos online for inspiration). We’ll set up a photo area and let you take an epically awkward family photo (Maybe your family Christmas card this year?)

Lecrea & Andy Mineo Concert – Friday, November 9th | 7:30pm
Tickets for the Lecrae & Andy Mineo concert are $24 and available now.  Email nate@discovergrace.net to purchase a ticket.
